Tulsa Police Arrest Man For Alleged Rape Of Live-In Girlfriend

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma -

A Tulsa man was arrested on complaints of rape, forcible sodomy and domestic abuse reportedly told police he did not sexually assault his girlfriend because sex is part of their living arrangement.

Police say Edward S. Olearnick admitted he struck his girlfriend of two years because she would "not leave him alone and let him sleep."

"The defendant confirmed that the victim was probably fearful of him being physical with her again and this was why she consented to have sexual intercourse with him, but denied that he had raped her," the arresting officer said.

According to an arrest report, Olearnick told officers that he and the victim have an understanding that she does not have to work if she "feeds, ****s, and puts him to bed."

Olearnick, 45, allegedly told officers he struck his girlfriend with his fist, scratched her nose and face and pulled her hair.

A neighbor who heard the woman screaming at an apartment complex in the 4800 block of South Darlington called police Saturday afternoon. When an officer knocked on the apartment door, the girlfriend answered wrapped in a sheet and mouthed, "help me," the report states.

Olearnick, who has a previous conviction for domestic assault and battery by strangulation, is being held on $61,533 bond. Part of that amount is for failing to pay court costs on the earlier domestic violence conviction.
