An Oklahoma City woman accused of robbing at least 3 different pharmacies for drugs in the past 2 months is arrested.

Mary Kay Plante, 51, was arrested at the Walmart, located at I-240 and Santa Fe, after store employees and customers held her down until officers arrived.

“Well, I was really shocked you know,” said Gary Jones, relative. “I was surprised it seems like out of character for her.”

Jones is Plante’s former in-law and landlord. He and other relatives said this is not the Mary Kay, who they know and love.

“I’ve known her since high school really,” he said. “She’s always been a good gal.”

Oklahoma City Police arrested Plante at the Walmart Pharmacy early Sunday morning. They said she was wearing a black hoodie and panty hose over her face. She demanded pain pills from the counter.

“When the pharmacist refused to give them to her after two requests, she jumped over the counter, grabbed the bottles of hydrocodone and proceeded to walk out of the pharmacy door,” said Capt. Dexter Nelson, Oklahoma City Police Department.

Nelson said a knife shaped like a gun; fell out of her hoodie when store employees and customers stopped her.

“They held her down, kept the weapon away from her until officers arrived and took custody of her,” said Capt. Nelson.

Plante is also accused of robbing the CVS pharmacy on S.W. 44th and a nearby Walgreens, located 3 miles away. Police said those robberies happened back to back sometime in June.

According to police records, a woman wearing a “black hoodie” and “panty hose over her face” handed the CVS pharmacy tech a note, which said, “Give me two bottles of Hydrocodone and no one will get hurt.”

At the Walgreens, a woman wearing a black hoodie handed a note for pills that said, “Do it calmly and do it quickly and no one gets hurt.”

Jones said he knew Plante was hurting, but had no idea it would lead to this.

You know, she’s had a couple of injuries on the job,” said Jones. “I think she got hooked on pain pills through the pain management doctors and stuff like that.”

News 9 also talked to Plante’s niece over the phone. She said Plante lost her husband to cancer last year and that she never fully recovered from that.

Plante is being held in the Oklahoma County Jail on a $40,000 dollars bond.
