Advance LA to hold its 2nd annual Conference for Young Adults

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif., July 15, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Help Group's Advance LA is pleased to announce its 2nd annual Advance LA Day for Young Adults Conference, being held on Saturday, July 19th, 9:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m., at American Jewish University in Los Angeles.

Designed for teens and young adults with ASD, ADHD, learning differences and social & emotional challenges, the day will feature a wide-selection of interactive workshops for attendees to engage with peers and provide them with the opportunity to practice new skills related to transitioning to greater independence, sparking passions and cultivating new relationships. Each workshop is 45-minutes and will cover topics including job hunting, college exploration and success, managing stress, healthy living, speed friending and dating 101 and 'Maker' activities in robotics and open-source electronics platforms like Arduino. Parents are welcome to join one of the one-hour parent sessions during the first session at the start of the day, or the last session at the end of the day.

The line-up of presenters include keynote speaker, Alex Plank, autism advocate, filmmaker, actor, and the creator of WrongPlanet.net, a popular online community for individuals with Asperger's Syndrome and Autism.  Alex is currently a consultant to the lead actress & creators of FX's hit TV series, "The Bridge".

Featured Lunch Speakers are Christine Motokane, Author of Working the Double Shift: A Young Woman's Journey with Autism, and motivational speaker, Dani Bowman, founder of Powerlight Animation Studios.
