CLICK is a group of volunteer knitters and crocheters who work with the Period of PURPLE Crying Program to deliver a message in the form of a hat.

There are between 600 and 1,400 cases of Shaken Baby Syndrome in the U.S. each year, according to The National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome.

Often a caregiver shakes an infant out of frustration when the baby won’t stop crying.

About 80 percent of infants who are shaken will suffer brain injuries and almost 30 percent will die from those injuries.

Looking to lower that number, Period of PURPLE Crying (PPC) educates parents on normal crying patterns and how to cope with crying babies that cannot be soothed.

Purple caps are sent home with newborns as a reminder of that education.

CLICK is recruiting volunteers to help make the 7,650 caps needed for Oklahoma hospitals. The hats will be collected through the end of September and can be sent to two locations:

Oklahoma Child Death Review Board
1111 N. Lee, Ste. 500
OKC, OK 73103

Parent Child Center of Tulsa
1412 S. Boston Ave.
Tulsa, OK 74119

For hat patterns, guidelines and campaign details you can visit their website or call 405-271-4471.
