CUSTER COUNTY, Oklahoma -

More than 10 pounds of meth now sits at the Custer County Sheriff’s Department. The bust is a result of a routine traffic stop, but the street value of the drugs made this stop anything but routine.

The deputies compared themselves to fisherman, always looking for that big catch. What the deputies caught on Interstate 40 would be a mantel piece for any department.

Saturday night started as a quiet night for Custer County Sheriff's deputies Marcus Williams and Brady Quisenberry, until they took to the interstate just after 11:30 p.m. Minutes later, Williams noticed a suspicious driver in a black truck.

"Paying a lot of attention to me and while he was doing that he crossed over the white line into my lane," said Williams.

So the deputies pulled the truck over just east of Exit 71, for a minor traffic violation.

"He was shaking uncontrollably, nervous, sweating and he had the air condition on," Williams said.

After smelling marijuana and seeing a pipe in the truck, Williams detained Justin Fritz, meanwhile Quisenberry checked the bed of the truck.

"[I was] moving the tire over to see what else was in there to collect inventory," said Quisenberry.

But the deputy could see a shirt tucked inside the tire.

"Pulled on it and out came this stuff right here," said Williams.

He found 12 pounds of meth be exact, which has an estimated street value of over half a million dollars.

"It seemed like it was never going to stop. I’ll be honest, we both kind of looked at each other in a daze,” said Williams.

"This amount, this is a lot, this is a lot," said Quisenberry.

Usually, deputies drive around alone, but this night was different because it was Williams' first night on the job.

"I've been here for a while and you come out your first night out and do this," said Quisenberry.

"I think I earned my stay here, first night on the job, and you get something that's pretty iconic for the entire agency," said Williams.

Fritz has been charged with trafficking drugs and possession of a controlled substance. He is currently being held on bond, the same amount as the drugs are worth, $ 500,000.
