TULSA, Oklahoma -

Tulsa County remains under an Excessive Heat Warning and the rest of eastern Oklahoma under a Heat Advisory Wednesday even though a weak cool front is expected to cross the state this afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued the warning for Tulsa County and the advisory for the rest of eastern Oklahoma until 8 p.m.

News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone says the cool front will raise the chances for showers and thunderstorms as it moves across the state, but it is not expected to help with the hot temperatures. Tulsa is expected to hit 97 degrees Wednesday with heat index values near 105.

The front will have a slight impact on temperatures on Thursday with Tulsa only expected to get to 93 degrees. But by Saturday, temperatures will climb to near 100 with Sunday in the upper 90s.

On Tuesday, EMSA issued a Medical Heat Alert.

They say the alert was issued when they respond to five or more heat-related calls within a 24-hour period. On Tuesday, EMSA paramedics responded to eight patients with suspected heat-related symptoms. Four of those patients were transported to local hospitals, all in fair condition.

EMSA says the following cooling stations are open for the public until further notice:

The Salvation Army Center of Hope - 102 North Denver - open 24/7
Tulsa County Social Services - 2401 Charles Page Blvd. - open 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Dennis R. Neill Equality Center - 621 East 4th Street - open noon to 9 p.m. 7-days a week
John 3:16 Mission - 506 N. Cheyenne - open 24/7
