Kyle Greig scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season and added an assist as OKC Energy FC downed the Dayton Dutch Lions 3-0 Saturday night at DOC Stadium.

In the 42nd minute of play, Energy FC’s Michael Thomas sent the ball from the defensive zone deep into Dayton territory where Greig took possession behind the Dutch Lions’ defense and put the ball past Dayton keeper Matt Williams for a 1-0 OKC lead.

After taking a 1-0 lead into the locker room at the half, Energy FC extended its lead to 2-0 in the 52nd minute when Greig sent a cross through the penalty box from the right side of the pitch and Paul Wyatt kicked to the vacated side of the Dayton net for his first goal of the season.

Thomas added to the OKC lead in second half stoppage time when he sent a free kick from just outside the Dayton penalty box that deflected off a defender and into the Dutch Lions net.

Samir Badr recorded his second clean sheet of the season, stopping all six shots on goal he faced.

Each team tallied 10 shots in the match, with Dayton holding a 6-4 edge in shots on goal.

With the win, Energy FC improved to 8-8-5, while Dayton fell to 5-15-2.

Energy FC’s next match is Saturday, August 2, when it returns to Pribil Stadium and takes on the Orange County Blues in a 7 p.m. start.
