A stolen car and drugs were recovered during a traffic stop in northwest Oklahoma City, Wednesday night.

An Oklahoma County Sheriff’s deputy saw the vehicle run three stop signs, from NW 17th St. and Virginia Ave. to NW 18th St. and Kentucky Ave., around 10 p.m.

The deputy pulled the car over and made contact with the driver, 33-year-old Taft Burleson, who admitted to not having a driver’s license. When the deputy checked on the license plate he discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Oklahoma City.

The deputy was equipped with his K9 partner, “Cairo”, who signaled that drugs were likely in the vehicle as well. A search turned up a syringe with liquid and blood inside of it. Burleson then admitted to the deputy that the syringe had methamphetamine inside.

Burleson was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on the complaints of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign. His bond was set at $6,000.
