It's hard to imagine anyone sleeping the afternoon of May 20, 2013, but that was the case for the Taylors of Moore.
Gina Taylor sleeps in the afternoon, because she delivers newspapers very early in the morning with the help of two of her daughters, but it was another daughter, Destiny, who had news worth waking them up about. She was pregnant.
“It was really a miracle when my doctor called and said the test came out positive,” Destiny Taylor said she was told she’d have a hard time getting pregnant.
The family credits that early wake up call for giving them extra time to find shelter from the May 20 tornado.
The tornado demolished the family’s home and weeks later, came more bad news.
“When they told me they did the ultrasound and there was no heartbeat and blood flow, I didn't believe it, because I didn't show any signs of miscarriage,” Destiny said.
The Taylors slowly put their lives together and then got some news they didn’t expect.
“The next thing I know, a month or two later, I’m pregnant,” Destiny said.
Soon the family would move into a brand new home, and on May 20, Destiny’s baby came.
Little Colin has given the Taylors a reason to look forward to May 20 every year and celebrate.
“You can't love anything more that's for sure," said Destiny. "He's such a blessing.”
“I still think it was God’s way of saying this is what you need to think about and focus on. Now, you can focus and be happy about this,” Gina said.
