Tulsa Residents Invited To Talk Arkansas River Development

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma - Tulsa City Council will give residents another opportunity to discuss the future of Arkansas River development. A citywide Town Hall is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, at the OU-Schusterman Center.

Citizens can share their thoughts on river infrastructure development before a proposal is developed, a news release states. Residents might want to read over the findings of the Arkansas River Infrastructure Task Force that were completed in late May, 2014.

The task force looked at many aspects of river development including challenges and costs, and the impact on communities and businesses that share the shorelines. The task force also examined Gathering Place park project plans and timelines, cost estimates for low-water dam construction and the cost of maintaining any improvements.

“Cities across the country would kill to have this opportunity staring them in the face for half a century like we have," Tulsa City Councilor G.T. Bynum told News On 6 last month.

The task force plans to present finalized plans to the voters by the end of the year.

The meeting will be held at the Perkins Family Auditorium in the OU-Tulsa Schusterman Center's Learning Center, 4502 East 41st Street.
