Several Earthquakes Reported In Grant County

The United States Geological Survey reported several earthquakes in Grant County, Sunday.

The first earthquake was reported at 1:18 a.m. Sunday, five miles west, northwest of Medford and 30 miles north of Enid. The magnitude was 3.8, and the depth was over three miles.

Then at 1:31 a.m., a 3.5 magnitude was reported in the same location as the previous quake. It was over three miles deep.

A 3.4 magnitude tremor was reported at 10:59 a.m. Its epicenter was located six miles west, northwest of Medford and 29 miles north of Enid. Like the first earthquake in this series, the depth was over three miles.

The fourth earthquake was reported at 11:35 a.m., seven miles west of Medford and 28 miles north of Enid. The magnitude was 3.1, and the depth was over one mile.

There are no reports of major injury or damage at this time.

According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
