Minco Reserve Officer Arrested, Accused Of Sex Crimes

An off-duty police officer is on the other side of the law. Brett Johnson, 26, is sitting in the Oklahoma County jail accused of sex crimes.

Johnson was a reserve officer for the Minco Police Department and was not on duty at the time of the alleged incident. According to Oklahoma City Police reports, Johnson was working as a security guard when he allegedly forced a woman to perform sexual favors.

Johnson is accused of calling a private dancer to the The Cottages apartment complex in northwest Oklahoma City on Aug. 14. When the woman arrived, she and friend began walking through the complex when Johnson allegedly approached them. He told them to "freeze" then handcuffed the dancer and warned her that she was under arrest for trespassing.

Court papers show the victim was "afraid." She said Johnson looked like "a real cop, though something didn't feel right." He began patting her down and she claimed she knew, at that point, that he was not with the Oklahoma City Police Department.

"The male officer typically does not do that himself, in this case, she knew it wasn't an OKC police officer because he began searching her," said OCPD MSgt. Gary Knight, explaining it is department policy to call a female officer in to search a female.

After frisking her, the victim claimed Johnson asked if she was a "prostitute or dancer." She told Johnson she was a private dancer who had been called out to the apartment by a potential client. At that point, Johnson allegedly made her dance for him and perform sex acts to avoid going to jail.

Johnson left the apartment complex right after. The victim and her friends warned they were going to call "the real police."

The victim described Johnson's clothing and a distinguishing physical characteristic that only an intimate partner would know. Police were able to use the description to make an arrest. During the arrest, Johnson allegedly admitted he had called the victim out to the apartment to "hook up with her."

Johnson is being held on a $30,000 bond for forcible oral sodomy and sexual battery. He has since been relieved of his duties as a reserve officer with the Minco Police Department.

In a statement Captain Brian Hau said, "The allegations are troubling and cause for concern, not only to those affected, but to the town of Minco, as well."
