A national program is giving dozens of Oklahoma dogs facing death a second chance at life.

We all know what happens when there's an overcrowding issue at shelters. Many are euthanized. Instead, 15 dogs and puppies are heading on a road trip to Wisconsin where they will be placed into less crowded shelters and they'll be up for adoption there.

Once they get there, they'll get about a day to of down time. They'll get a complete medical check-up, their spay/neuter surgery and then placement on the adoption floor.

This is all part of the PetSmart Charities Rescue Waggin’ program and the Central Oklahoma Humane Society is the newest partner. Nationwide there are only 60 shelters taking part.

Since 2004, more than 75,000 dogs and puppies have been saved through the Rescue Waggin' program.
