An Oklahoma judge formally sentenced a former OU medical student, charged with secretly videotaping women and a juvenile girl in the bathroom of his apartment, on Thursday.

Dustin Graham, 35, went before Judge Cindy Truong shortly after 10 a.m. on Thursday with his attorneys Jay Husband and John Coyle.

The prosecution argued for a tough sentence, stating that the victims did not know where the images taken of them ended up. They say Graham knowingly and maliciously placed the camera in the bathroom, with the knowledge that a juvenile would be seen on film.

Prosecutors suggested a sentence of five years in prison with 10 years of probation. They also wanted Graham to have to register as a sex offender once his prison sentence was served.

The defense contested that Graham had done a lot since he was charged by police back in October 2012. They called in licensed counselor, Marsha Lee, who specializes in drug and alcohol addiction and sex addiction.

The counselor told the judge that with the right treatment, there is a low recidivism rate for sex addiction. She said she has counseled Graham for two and a half years and felt that he was not a risk to society. The Defense said Graham had taken responsibility, shown remorse and said he was sorry and wished for healing for everybody.

Perhaps the most shocking testimony came from Graham's girlfriend. She told the judge she was one of the victims of this crime, as were her sisters, her mother and friends. She said at the time she felt betrayed and that she did not know that the videotaping was going on. News 9 does not identify the victims of sex crimes.

"I'm hurt this happened to my family," she said.

She began to tear up on the stand and told the judge she has moved to Fort Worth because, "It was just too painful to stay."

The girl's family has asked the judge to send Graham to jail, but the girlfriend said she had seen a change in Graham and said that she still loves him.

"I believe he is an asset to society not a detriment. He wants to be a better person," she said.

The defense acknowledged that Graham knew he had broken the hearts of a lot of people, but asked the judge for a suspended sentence. Graham cried as he addressed the judge.

"I violated and betrayed their trust and for that I am very ashamed. I hate what I've done," he said. "I am in pain over all of this and will do everything I can to never repeat this behavior again."

In the end, Truong ruled that Graham should serve the five years in prison with five years of probation. The judge also ordered Graham to register as a sex offender upon completion of his sentence.
