An appearance in the MGM Grand Main Event, along with a home game against Maryland of the Big Ten Conference inside Gallagher-Iba Arena, highlight the non-conference portion of the Oklahoma State men's basketball schedule, released today by head coach Travis Ford. OSU could have as many as 22 games nationally televised in 2014-15.

“This schedule is going to be, from top to bottom, one of the toughest we've played since I've been here,” Ford said. “It will be an extremely challenging schedule, with some very tough road games. We have to play three major-conference teams on the road … going to South Carolina, to Memphis, and against Missouri in Kansas City. We also have a couple of games in Las Vegas against Oregon State and either Auburn or Tulsa, three teams from high-major leagues. We're also excited about our home schedule, highlighted by bringing a traditional basketball team like Maryland into Gallagher-Iba Arena, which will be a great home game for our fans. Milwaukee, North Texas and Middle Tennessee State are all very good teams. All in all, it will be a very challenging schedule.”

The Cowboys will begin the season with an exhibition game on Sat., Nov. 8, vs Missouri Western. The regular season starts on Fri., Nov. 14, when OSU hosts Southeastern Louisiana. The Cowboys last met the Lions in the 2005 NCAA Tournament. Prairie View A&M (Sun., Nov. 16) and Northwestern Oklahoma State (Tue., Nov. 18) will also visit Stillwater in the opening week of action.

Oklahoma State will then host UW Milwaukee, a 2014 NCAA Tournament team, on Fri., Nov. 21, as part of the MGM Grand Main Event. The Cowboys will travel to Las Vegas, Nev., and open bracket play in the tournament against Oregon State on Mon., Nov. 24, at 7:30 pm CT. On Wed., Nov. 26, the Cowboys will play either Auburn or Tulsa in the final round of the MGM Grand Main Event. The championship game takes place at 10:30 pm CT on ESPN2.

OSU will host North Texas on Wed., Dec. 3, the Mean Green's first visit to Stillwater since 2009, as well as Middle Tennessee State on Tue., Dec. 16.

Sandwiched between those two games are back-to-back road contests. The Cowboys will travel to Columbia, S.C., to face the South Carolina Gamecocks on Sat., Dec. 6, as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. That game will be televised on ESPNU at 11 am CT. After a week of finals, Oklahoma State will travel to Memphis, Tenn., to take on the Memphis Tigers in an ESPN2 game at 5 pm CT.

On Sun., Dec. 21, OSU will host Big Ten newcomer Maryland inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. It will be the second-ever meeting with the Terrapins, the other in 1966. It will mark the first time the Cowboys have hosted a current Big Ten school other than Nebraska since 1995 (Michigan State), and will be the first time in school history that Oklahoma State has hosted a traditional Atlantic Coast Conference team inside Gallagher-Iba Arena (Maryland was a member of the ACC from 1953-2014).

The Cowboys will wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule on Tues., Dec. 30, when OSU travels to Kansas City, Mo., to face former league-rival Missouri in the Sprint Center, home of the Big 12 Championship. That game will tip off at 8 pm and be televised on ESPN2.
