Thunder Hires Daigneault To Coach 66ers

Posted: Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY -

The Oklahoma City Thunder has hired Mark Daigneault as head coach of its D-league team the Formerly-Tulsa-Now-OKC 66ers, General Manager Sam Presti announced on Friday.

Daigneault replaces Darko Rajakovic who was promoted to Thunder assistant this offseason. The 29-year-old comes to Oklahoma City from the University of Florida where he was an assistant to Billy Donovan for the past four years. He previously coached at Holy Cross University for three years.

“Mark has placed a high value on development throughout his career and we feel that he is well aligned with the goals of our organization,” Presti said.

“His experience at Florida under Coach Donovan has provided him the platform to apply his intelligence and relationship skills to help strengthen the program. We are excited about Mark joining the organization and continuing his professional growth.”

The 66ers finished 24-26 a season ago, fifth in the NBADL Central Division. He'll get to coach Josh Huestis and Semaj Christon for sure this season and Mitch McGary, Grant Jerrett and Andre Roberson could all see stints with the 66ers at varying times.
