Police Suspect DUI After Car Crashes Into NW OKC Apartment

Crews responded to an apartment complex in northwest Oklahoma City, Sunday morning, after an SUV crashed into a window.  

It happened around 8:30 a.m. Sunday at the Tammaron Village apartment complex, located at 11100 Roxboro Avenue.

Police say a man crashed his SUV through the window of a studio apartment, and they suspect he was drunk.

The couple inside the apartment was not injured and says they didn't have to go to church today to feel God's presence.

“I just thank God that he just was truly protecting us,” Caleb Dickenson said he and his wife just moved into their studio apartment about a week and a half ago.

Dickenson said he had just woken up early Sunday morning when it happened.

“I went into the kitchen to make cinnamon rolls, and we heard the boom,” Dickenson recalled.

Newlyweds, Caleb and his wife, Anna, soon saw what all the commotion was about.

“The car came into the living room,” Dickenson said. “It was feet away from our bed.”

Police say the driver was Paul Lange. Suspected of being intoxicated, Lange drove his black Mercedes Benz through the Dickenson's apartment and then tried to get away.

“We just saw the guy trying to keep pressing the gas,” said Dickenson. “We heard the squeal of the tires, and he tried to back it out and he couldn't.”

Neighbor Rebecca Lewis saw the man try to escape.

“I was staring at the car when he was trying to exit the back door, and he was having a hard time, because the door was right against the bush, so I told him he'd have to push harder to get out,” Lewis said.

Lange eventually crawled out and went to his upstairs apartment where police found him and took him into custody.

“It's just amazing to see God's blessing on our lives to protect us, and there's power in prayer,” Dickenson said.

Dickenson told News 9 the apartment complex will provide them with another apartment.
