The OSBI is investigating an Ardmore Police Department in-custody death from Friday evening.

According to the OSBI, Ardmore police responded to a domestic assault call around 7 p.m. Friday at an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Holiday Drive.

OSBI agents say, on arrival, officers found 38-year-old Rondre Hornbeak's hands restrained with a belt.

Hornbeak's sister and brother-in-law went to the apartment to check on his welfare, and when Hornbeak opened the door, he assaulted his sister, according to the OSBI.

The OSBI advisory message states officers arrested Hornbeak for domestic violence, and once he arrived at the jail, the transporting officer noticed Hornbeak was unresponsive and called for medical help.

Agents say detention officers began resuscitation efforts until medics arrived, and then Hornbeak was transported to Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The OSBI says they have interviewed numerous witnesses, family members and officers.

The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner's Office.
