My 2 Cents: Oklahoma City Growth Accelerating

We enjoyed dinner in Midtown this weekend at one of the many, new to me restaurants, and then we toured around central Oklahoma City checking out all the new private construction projects underway. Staggering!

I had to go back and check the My 2 Cents archive, it was last August that I told you about taking my mom on a sightseeing tour downtown so she could see the transformation taking place in her hometown. Well I've got to tell you, if it's possible, it seems like the downtown boom is gaining speed.

Seemingly every block I spotted something new. It's worth spending 2 or 3 hours driving around.

And that brings me to the river, and a split decision today by the city council, which narrowly approved going forward with the whitewater rapids course project. Bravo!

The construction bids on that project came in $13.6 million dollars over budget, but they can trim that out of other Maps Projects.

The Whitewater course for professional and amateur kayakers and canoers will set us apart from other cities certainly in this region and visitors who come to Oklahoma City will no doubt say whitewater kayaking in Oklahoma City, who would have thought?
