The Oklahoma City RedHawks fell behind early on the scoreboard Monday and finished their 2014 season with an 11-1 loss to the Iowa Cubs at Principal Park.

Iowa built a commanding 10-0 lead through three innings to claim a 4-0 series sweep against the RedHawks.

The RedHawks (74-70) finished the season tied with Iowa for second place in the PCL American Northern Division after being swept in a series for just the second time in 2014.

The I-Cubs (74-70) jumped ahead, 3-0, in the first inning.

Andrew Ely drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs to bring home Ryan Kalish for a 1-0 Iowa lead. David Bote followed with a single on a line drive to center field to score two more runs and provide a 3-0 advantage.

Iowa added two runs in the second inning.

Jonathan Mota, who singled earlier in the inning, scored from third base when Kris Bryant reached on a fielding error by shortstop Jio Mier. Bryant later scored on a single by Eli Whiteside for a 5-0 Iowa lead.

Iowa's offense continued to roll in the third inning, tacking on five more runs, as the I-Cubs won their first season series against Oklahoma City since 2010.

Mota connected on a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded and none out for a six-run Cubs lead in the third. Kalish, who finished with a game-high four hits, doubled on a line drive to center field to bring home two more runs for Iowa. Whiteside added a two-run double later in the inning after an Oklahoma City pitching change to put the I-Cubs in front, 10-0. Whiteside recorded a game-high three RBI.

The score remained unchanged until the bottom of the eighth inning. With the bases loaded, Mota swung and missed at a pitch from RedHawks reliever David Martinez, but the ball got past RedHawks catcher Max Stassi and allowed Ely to score Iowa's 11th run of the day on a passed ball.

In the top of the ninth inning, Domingo Santana reached base on an Iowa missed catch error and advanced to third on a line drive double to right field by Stassi. Santana then scored on a sacrifice fly by Andrew Aplin to notch Oklahoma City's lone run of the day and end the shutout.

The RedHawks tallied a total of 10 hits Monday, and finished the game just 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position. During the four-game series, Oklahoma City hit a combined .161 (9-for-56) with runners in scoring position and left 41 runners on base.

Iowa starting pitcher Dae-Eun Rhee (3-2) struck out 11 RedHawks batters, as he tossed seven scoreless innings in the win. He allowed six hits and issued one walk. The RedHawks tied a season high for a nine-inning game by striking out 12 times Monday.

RedHawks starting pitcher Alex White (3-6) allowed a season-high nine runs (five earned) on nine hits over just 2.1 innings. He issued three walks and recorded one strikeout in the loss.

Mier went 3-for-4 for the RedHawks. Stassi and Preston Tucker each had two hits, as Tucker finished on a season-best 11-game hitting streak.

Joe Sclafani singled in the top of the eighth inning to close out the season reaching base in 45 consecutive games. Ronny Torreyes singled in the first inning to finish the season with a team-leading 137 hits.
