TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa has opened a new 150-bed patient tower and trauma center - marking the facility's largest expansion since it opened in 1960.
The new, $206 million tower was dedicated Wednesday in a ceremony at the south Tulsa hospital.
The project includes a trauma emergency center, pediatric emergency center and a trauma intensive care unit. It's designed to serve roughly 300 patients a day.
John-Kelly Warren, the chairman of the Saint Francis Health System board of directors, says the hospital wanted to reinvent the way it gives care to patients and used architecture to make the hospital and emergency room seem less intimidating.
A public open house is planned for Sunday afternoon.
