Big Boy Touchdowns

Linebacker Geneo Grissom showed off his athleticism on Saturday, picking off a Dane Evans pass and returning it 38 yards for a touchdown. It was the second interception of Grissom's career and both have resulted in touchdowns.

Last year against Texas, Grissom picked off a Case McCoy screen pass and took it the distance. He also recovered a fumble against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl and scored the game-clinching touchdown. With Saturday's pick-six, Grissom became the first Oklahoma linebacker/defensive lineman to score three touchdowns in his career. The score also continued the Sooners' streak of scoring a defensive touchdown in every season under coach Bob Stoops.

Defensive tackle Jordan Phillips nearly had himself a touchdown of his own, forcing an Evans fumble and returning it 69 yards for a touchdown. However, fellow lineman Chuka Ndulue was called for a personal foul for blocking someone clearly out of the play and the touchdown was negated.

Alex Ross scored on an 82-yard touchdown run on the very next play for the Sooners, but it was still disappointing to be deprived another big boy touchdown.

Bell Gets First Catch, Touchdown

Tight end Blake Bell recorded the first catch of his career late in the first quarter and then scored his first receiving touchdown on a three-yard pass from Trevor Knight later in the drive. Bell now has 37 touchdowns in his career (24 rushing, 12 passing and one receiving). The touchdown reception was the first by an OU tight end since Brannon Green at UTEP in the first game of the 2012 season.

Bell finished the game with two catches for 10 yards.

Money-cutt Continues Impressive Run

Michael Hunnicutt connected on a 38-yard field goal in the second quarter to extend his OU school record to 65 career makes. He has now made 10 field goals in a row dating back to last season's Iowa State game (11/16/13).

Hunnicutt also passed Garrett Hartley (169) for fifth-most made extra points made in OU history at 172 thanks to kicking seven on Saturday.

Other Notes

• Oklahoma led 31-0 at halftime. The Sooners have won 44 straight games when leading at the break (second-longest active streak in the country) and are 143-9 all-time under Stoops in such situations.

• Running back Keith Ford's first-quarter touchdown run at the 14:03 mark is OU's quickest score since LB Corey Nelson returned an interception for a touchdown at Notre Dame (9/28/13) with 14:11 on the clock.

• OU has scored 21 points in the first quarter in back-to-back games. The last time the Sooners scored 21 first quarter points in two straight games was against Baylor (11/20/10) and Texas Tech (11/13/10).

• Linebacker Caleb Gastelum intercepted his first pass of his career and recorded his first career sack. He was awarded a scholarship by head coach Bob Stoops after the game.
