After yesterday's highs in the upper 80s, we anticipate even warmer air this afternoon along with south to southwest winds in the 15 to 28 mph range.  Our highs should reach the 92 to 94 range with mostly sunny conditions.  Shower and storm chances will remain for portions of the northern OK vicinity early Wednesday morning into the midday period before the chances will migrate southeast.   A few storms will be likely Wednesday afternoon across eastern OK along with some areas of rain, but severe weather is not anticipated across our immediate areas with this system.  Some locations, including the Tulsa metro, may be on the “ edge” of this precipitation.

The forecast continues to focus on a strong fall cold front located this morning across the northern part of the nation moving southeast.  This front will approach far northern OK and southern Kansas Wednesday morning before moving across southeastern and east central OK Wednesday afternoon and evening.  Temperatures Wednesday will be slightly tricky due to the expected timing of the front.  The highs may be limited to the upper 80s between the 1pm to 3pm period near and southeast of Tulsa, with readings dropping into the 70s and upper 60s along the OK-Kansas state line area by late Wednesday afternoon.   We'll place a 90 on the map for the Tulsa high.  Some scattered showers or thunderstorms will be possible with this Wednesday system and even cooler air will follow behind the front sometime Friday.  The models continue to keep most of the precipitation confined to areas southeast and east of Tulsa.  We have lowered the pops a tad for the Tulsa metro, but we're still in the running for some activity.  This front may briefly lift northward Thursday night into Friday as another upper level disturbance approaches from the northwest.  This should result in a few more showers Thursday night into Friday near or south of the Tulsa metro.  The additional cloud cover and some rain-cooled air may keep our Friday afternoon highs in the mid-60s along with northeast winds at 10 mph.  Friday evening drier air will move across the state with north winds allowing Saturday morning temps to drop into the lower or mid-50s.  We continue to think most, if not all of the weekend will remain pleasant and dry.  The extended data supports a pattern change next week in the upper air flow that would bring another system near the state Monday or Tuesday.  This would result in thunderstorm chances near and west of the region with seasonal temperatures near eastern OK.

Temps today will move into the 94 range with gusty southwest winds.  A few showers or storms will be possible Wednesday followed by a nice fall-like cool down Thursday through most of the weekend.  Some additional showers may occur Thursday night into Friday morning.

Thanks again for reading the Tuesday Morning Weather update.

Have a great day!
