A Chance Of Drizzle/Showers

We're tracking another surge of cooler air that will arrive this morning bringing another chance for some showers across northern OK with a few thunderstorms across far western or far southern OK.  We may also be in the running for some light drizzle or light showers for a few hours today along with cloudy, breezy, and cool conditions.  Our temperatures may stay as cool as 60 or as warm as 68 depending upon the extent of the precipitation.  I'm leaning toward the lower 60s with Tulsa readings around 62-64.  Northeast winds in the 10 to 25 mph range will be likely today.  The weekend looks wonderful with morning lows in the upper 40s and lower 50s and afternoon highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s.  We may have a few clouds Saturday but sunshine should be the dominate sky cover for the weekend.  Another system will be nearing the state early next week with chances of scattered showers and thunderstorms across the state.

The front that cleared the state Wednesday is currently located across part of  TX this morning.  An upper level wave is dropping southward out of the Rockies this morning and will cause some precipitation to break out across the state behind the boundary.  The higher likelihood for rainfall should occur across western, south-central, and far southern OK directly behind the surface boundary.  The atmosphere across northern OK should be saturated for the next several hours across the northern third of the state.  This should support some drizzle or light showers on occasion this morning with temps holding steady in the upper 50s and lower 60s.  The clouds may continue to stick around for the majority of the day with the gusty northeast winds.  The timing of the system supports most of the precipitation ending by 6pm across northern sections allowing for mainly dry conditions for Friday evening activities.  The latest hi-res data brings some light precip or drizzle into the area around midday to early afternoon from the northwest.

The clouds are expected to clear out pre-dawn Saturday allowing surface temps to drop in the upper 40s and lower 50s Saturday morning with northeast winds at 10 mph.  Saturday afternoon highs may stay in the upper 60s but I'll keep it right at 70 on the map with northeast winds for most of the day.

Sunday the surface winds will back from the east and southeast as the upper level wind flow from the northwest becomes more prevalent early next week.  This should allow a few weak disturbances to move across the state Monday with a chance for scattered showers or storms.  It's unclear if these probabilities should be included for Tuesday or Wednesday but the pattern would support the opportunity.   I'm leaning on keeping the pops confined for Tuesday night.  Temperatures will move back into the lower and mid 80s for afternoon highs next week with morning lows in the 60s.
