A fire at a suburban Chicago air traffic control facility Friday halted all flights in and out of the city's two airports.

Airspace management has been transferred to adjacent air traffic facilities, the Federal Aviation Administration told CBS News.

That has impacted several flights in and out of Tulsa International Airport Friday morning.

A check at Tulsa International Airport's web site shows United flight #6140 to Chicago from Tulsa has been delayed until 10 a.m. Two American flights, #1326 and # 2973 have been canceled.

On flights coming from Chicago, American Airlines flight #2973 and #3093 and United Airlines flight #3377 have been canceled.

Southwest Airlines says it suspended all flights at Midway International Airport until noon.

Statement from Southwest Airlines:

"Due to a reported fire at an Air Traffic Control Facility near Chicago, Southwest Airlines has proactively cancelled all flights at Chicago-Midway International Airport and Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport through at least noon central time, Friday, Sept. 26.  We are working with customers directly affected by this service interruption."

Friday's fire led to the evacuation of the Chicago Air Route Traffic Control Center in Aurora, FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Cory said.

Aurora city spokesman Dan Ferrelli said in a statement to CBS Chicago that authorities found an adult man in the facility's basement suffering from apparent self-inflicted wounds that were not from a gunshot.

The man was transported to an Aurora hospital, where he is undergoing treatment, Ferrelli said.

The fire has been extinguished, Ferrelli said.

Another adult male was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, Ferrelli said.

It was the second time since May that a fire at one of the Chicago area's major control facilities prompted a ground stop at O'Hare and Midway International airports.
