The U.S. Department of Education recognized five Oklahoma schools Tuesday including three in eastern Oklahoma as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2014.
The department says the recognition is based on their overall academic excellence are among the highest performing schools on state assessments or nationally normed tests.
The department awarded the "Exemplary High Performing Schools” designation to:
- Southeast Elementary School of Jenks Public Schools
- Adair High School of Adair Public Schools
- Bethany High School of Bethany Public Schools
- Edmond Doyle Elementary of McAlester Public Schools
- Reydon Elementary School of Reydon Public Schools
