Cherokee County deputies arrested a man they say sexually abused a man who is developmentally disabled.

Cherokee County Undersheriff Jason Chennault said Donald Gartrell is being held on one count of sexual abuse of a vulnerable adult.

Chennault said Gartrell worked at a group home for 10 weeks with three men living in the home. Reports said Gartrell originally denied the allegations, but later admitted during questioning he abused one of the male residents.

Chennault said there were no reported incidents with the other men living in the home.

Gartrell is being held on a $75,000 bond. No court date has been set.
