The Tulsa women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to East Carolina on Thursday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU fell to 7-6-2 on the season and 1-3-1 in the American Athletic Conference, while ECU moved to 8-4-1 overall and 2-2 in the league.

“I thought we played well, especially early on,” coach Kyle Cussen said. “We had some good opportunities, but in the run of play they scored a great goal. I felt like we kept fighting and did what we could do, but we didn't have enough to get the ball into the back of the net tonight.”

Lana Spitler scored the lone goal of the contest as she pushed the ball up the left side at the 30:08 mark for the game-winner.

The Golden Hurricane had a 13-5 lead in shots, including a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal, and a 5-3 lead in corner kicks.

Madison Smith had a team-best three shots, while Tana Dake had two attempts and eight others had one shot. Courtney McKeon played the full 90 minutes in goal for three saves.

Tulsa will return to action on Sunday against Cincinnati. Game time is set for 1 p.m. at the Hurricane Stadium.
