Police say a standoff at a north Tulsa home ended Friday afternoon when a man surrendered to officers.

Shortly before 1 p.m. Tulsa Police said the man crawled out the front door after the department's Special Operations Team shot about 15 rounds of tear gas into the home.

Tulsa Police says the SOT officers were called to the home just before 5 a.m. after a 37-year-old man showed up at Hillcrest hospital's emergency room saying he had been shot in the shoulder at the home by his brother.  Police said the victim's wound was not life threatening.

The victim said his elderly mother and 44-year-old brother were in the home when he left for the hospital.

The home is located in the 2000 block of North Quincy.

Officers arrived and got the mother out of the home.  EMSA paramedics were seen treating her inside an ambulance.

Police says they talked briefly to the brother in the home, but said he refused to come outside.

"At some point we lost communication with him; we were communicating by cellular phone. The individual, we believe, is still inside the house, he's armed, and at this point we've activated our Special Operations Team in attempt to get this individual to corporate with us," said Tulsa Police Officer, Leland Ashley.

Four nearby Tulsa Public Schools had been placed on lockdown as a precaution because of the standoff.

After his arrest, the man was taken to an ambulance to be checked out before Tulsa Police took him to the Tulsa County jail.
