ORU Volleyball Swept At Omaha

Offensive struggles caught up to the Oral Roberts University volleyball team on Friday as the Golden Eagles fell 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-19) to Omaha at Sapp Fieldhouse.

ORU hit just .155 as a team and had 23 attacking errors along with 6 services errors in the loss. On the positive side, ORU got 11 kills from Nika Mostahinic, her second double digit effort in a row. Maggie DiPronio added 14 digs, her best defensive outing since recording 22 digs against Tulsa (Sept. 19).

The Turning Point

ORU had an 18-17 lead before four-straight attacking errors by the Golden Eagles allowed UNO to grab a 21-18 lead. The Mavericks went on to score eight of the final 10 points of the match to win 25-20.

The Leaders

Oral Roberts: Nika Mostahinic had 11 kills on 28 attempts. After sitting out the first set, Laura Milos came in and recorded eight kills on 17 attempts over the final two. Maggie DiPronio had a team-high 14 digs and Lucija Bojanjac had 32 assists.

Omaha: Michaela Schimmer had a team-high 10 kills, while Mackenzie Horkey added 11 digs.

Inside the Box Score

- ORU actually had more kills (40-37) than Omaha, but had 23 errors as opposed to nine by the Mavericks.

- Omaha held an advantage at the net with 8.0 blocks, while McKenna Qualls and Shelby Cox combined for ORU's only block on the night.

- Omaha hit .500 (14-1-26) in the 25-16 victory over ORU in the second set. ORU hit .158 (13-7-38) in the same set.

News & Notes

- ORU is now 2-7 on the road this season and has lost six in a row. ORU's last road victory was September 9 against Arkansas.

- Friday marked the first time Omaha has bested ORU on the volleyball court, but was the first meeting since 1982.

- ORU fell into a three-way tie with Omaha and IPFW for fourth place in the league at 3-4.
