OSU fell to West Virginia 34-10 in Stillwater on Saturday and fell to 5-3 (3-2). Here's some instant analysis, stick around for the full game recap.

What went well:

The Oklahoma State defense got off to a disastrous start, allowing two Mountaineer touchdown drives in the first eight minutes. Both took less than two minutes and fewer than six plays. But after that, the Cowboy defenders figured things out, holding WVU to just six points until late in the fourth when the game was over. OSU won't beat anybody with its offense playing this way, but the defense has reason to be encouraged.

What didn't:

The offense continued to struggle badly and the script remained the same. Daxx Garman missed on a lot of open receivers and threw a pair of picks, the offensive line struggled to open run lanes, and the Cowboys lost the time of possession battle for the eighth time this season. The Pokes' top back Desmond Roland finished with just 37 yards on 12 carries.

OSU game ball:

Sophomore safety Jordan Sterns finished with a whopping 20 tackles, so he gets the nod. Tyreek Hill gets honorable mention with 104 yards on 17 touches.

It was over when:

Garman's fourth-down pass fell incomplete with 7:27 to play in the game. OSU trailed 20-10 and was driving at the WVU 37 when Garman's ball, intended for David Glidden, fell way short thanks to a heavy Mountaineer pass rush. Needing two scores with a struggling offense, OSU needed to convert that fourth down to keep realistic hope alive.

What's next:

The road only gets harder for OSU. Next up is a trip to face Kansas State next Saturday in Manhattan. No. 11 KSU is 6-1 and 4-0 in the Big 12. The Wildcats are coming off a 23-0 win over Texas.
