Mayor Dewey Bartlett says the City of Tulsa has 8,000 tons of salt in stock and another 5,000 tons on order if and when severe winter weather strikes the city this year.

During a news conference Wednesday morning, Bartlett said they have a fleet of 63 truck-mounted spreaders, 46 truck-mounted snow plows, several road graders along with 170 employees ready to go.

The mayor said the spreaders and snow plows have 35 specific routes they cover when snow and ice begins falling. Bartlett said employees have several priorities including clearing Tulsa's 1,768 lane-miles lane miles of arterial streets, as well as the streets around the city's hospitals and schools.
