Tahlequah police are patrolling this year's Halloween with new reflective markings on their cars.

The ghost graphics blend in with the patrol cars until headlights hit them.

"It's all the same markings, nothing really changes; once the light hits it, it's clearly visible, even during the daytime without the light hitting on it you can see it. Only time when it's really concealed is when it is dark and there's no light and someone drives by," said Tahlequah Police Officer, Skylar Green.

Green showed off his police car outfitted with the new ghost graphics.

They've been installed on several units in the department.

Green said the graphics actually provide high visibility for people to see the police cars at night.

"The graphics are pretty clear and the light bar kind of gives it away that it's a police car,” he said. “It's clearly marked. Usually everybody knows what's coming when it's behind them."

Green's patrol car used to look like the older ones with the blue and white lettering on it.

"I like it. It's just a different look, that's all it is. It really has no advantage or disadvantage I don't think," he said.

A handful of other police departments in eastern Oklahoma use the graphics.

The ghost graphics have been around for five to seven years and don't cost much more than the traditional ones.
