'8 Days' Human Trafficking Film Screened In Broken Arrow

Tulsa County Sheriff's Office is inviting the public to attend a special screening of "8 Days," at 6 p.m. Monday, November 3.

The film is inspired by actual events and showcases human sex trafficking in the U.S. It will be shown at Abiding Harvard United Methodist Church, 4407 South Olive Avenue in Broken Arrow.

The plot concerns Amber Stevens, a 16-year-old girl who sneaks out to go to a party with friends and is forced into the world of human sex trafficking. Her family fights to get her back.

Advocates call it a "must see" film for parents and others.

Sheriff Stanley Glanz says his department and other community organizations will have informational booths geared toward human trafficking prevention and awareness.

"Citizens are encouraged to view the online trailer and consider attending this event which depicts real life human trafficking situations," he said in a news release.

Special agents from Homeland Security participated in making the film, according to the release.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online or at the door. There will be a special red carpet event at 6 p.m. with the film starting at 7 p.m.

Part of the proceeds of the screening to to benefit Unlock Freedom, an anti-human trafficking organization.
