Woman Escapes Kitchen Fire In West Tulsa Apartment

Firefighters said a woman awakened by a fire in her kitchen overnight had to climb out a first-floor window to escape.

Firefighters said a woman awakened by a fire in her kitchen overnight had to climb out a first-floor window to escape.

The Tulsa Fire Department was sent to the Overlook Apartments in the 6300 block of South 33rd West Avenue at about 12:45 a.m. 

Firefighters said the woman had started cooking when she lay down and fell asleep. They said she was awakened by a popping sound and saw the smoke. 

Firefighters said the woman was not injured but the kitchen sustained minor damage. Tulsa Fire said no one else in the complex was impacted by the fire.
