A 4.8 earthquake with an epicenter south of Wichita, Kansas, shook a large portion of northern Oklahoma on Wednesday afternoon.

Buildings in downtown Tulsa shook for approximately 30 seconds, and residents in all four directions of Tulsa felt the quake. Viewers in Stillwater and Pawnee County as well as those in Muskogee, Colcord and, of course, Kansas, also were rattled.

Conway Springs, Kansas, which according to the United States Geological Survey was the epicenter of the quake, is 170 miles northwest of Tulsa.

CBS affiliate KWCH in Wichita says there have been no reports of damage or injuries at this time.

By 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oklahoma had three earthquakes in state and 36 have happened in the state since Sunday. Earlier in the day, a 2.9 and 2.8 were centered near Medford, and a 2.6 was centered near Yale.

According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely with earthquakes at magnitudes 4.0 and higher.
