Viral Meningitis Confirmed In Bixby Student At Central Elementary

Bixby Schools confirmed a case of viral meningitis Central Elementary.

The school sent a note home with Kindergarten parents today, saying:

“We want to take this opportunity to let you know that a student in your child's class has a confirmed case of viral meningitis. Please be aware that this is ‘viral' meningitis NOT ‘bacterial' meningitis. Your child's classroom and other common areas of use will undergo a thorough cleaning tonight with the appropriate bleach solution. We want you to be assured that we have notified and are working with the Tulsa County Health Department to take the appropriate steps in order to provide the cleanest and healthiest school and classroom possible.

Tulsa County Health Dept. recommended that if you have concerns or questions please contact your doctor.”

Viral meningitis is the milder form of meningitis.
