A Bixby man is still in shock after someone shot at him on his drive home from work.

Jesse Waffle was alone in his car and feels lucky none of the four bullets hit him, and he can't believe he was a victim of road rage.

Jesse was driving home from work on U.S. Highway 412 near Inola last Wednesday. He said he was driving about 70 mph when a car pulled out in front of him, going really slow. He couldn't move over, so he had to slam on the brakes and almost hit the vehicle, which made Jesse mad.

"I decided to pull around him, got into the right hand lane, rolled down my window, threw a couple of gestures up, said something,” Jesse said. “Before I could say the final words, he rolled down his window, pulled out his gun and shot my car."

Four bullets hit Jesse's car, one was right by the front door where Jesse was sitting.

He said it was not a long, protracted road rage ordeal, and that the whole thing took about five seconds from start to finish.

"Literally, I pull around the guy, I flip him off, the guy pulls out a gun and shoots my car," Jesse said.

One shot blew Jesse's tire, so he pulled over and called the sheriff's office.

"What saddens me more, this guy had no thought, I'm gonna shoot this guy's car today, I'm going to try to kill him,'" Jesse said.

He hopes the person is caught and learns a lesson that a gun is not the answer to a hand gesture, even a rude one.

Jesse said he's already learned his lesson and he will never be flipping off anyone in traffic ever again.

"If someone has the audacity to pull out his gun and shoot you for flipping them off, then that tells you there are more people in the world like that," he said.

Jesse thinks the car might have been a two-door black Honda Civic. He said the passenger who shot at him was a heavyset white man, about 25-30 years old with dark hair. It happened last Wednesday around 4 p.m. west of Inola on Highway 412. If you saw anything, call the Rogers County tipline at 918-341-3620.
