The Jenks Trojan football team defeated Owasso Friday night, 42-14.

Jenks came out strong in the first quarter, completing catches and playing shutdown defense. At the 10:42 mark, Trojan running back Darwin Thompson broke through multiple defenders at the 25 yard line. Following that play, Jenks quarterback Cooper Nunley completed a pass to Carson Epps. He made it to the 11 yard line for a first down. At the 8:20 mark, on second and seven, Nunley ran it to the five yard line. With his team in scoring distance, Nunley then ran it in for the touchdown. This gave Jenks a 7-0 lead over Owasso.

Owasso was shut down on their first offensive possession, gaining no yardage. The Trojan defense quickly forced the Rams to punt on fourth down. With Jenks in possession of the ball and four minutes left in the quarter, Epps set off for a long run gaining the first down. With 2:16 left in the quarter, Austin Quillen ran it to the two yard line for the Trojans. Owasso then made two major stops on the line, forcing a third down. With just 30 seconds left on the clock, Nunley ran into the end zone for his second touchdown.

Going into the second quarter, Jenks forced the Rams to punt again. After gaining ball possession, Nunley was sacked by Rams defensive end Michael Anderson. At the 8:28 mark Jenks punted the ball downfield, and stopped Owasso at the four yard line. After Jenks defensively pushed them back, the Rams punted from the one yard line 32 yards downfield.

The Rams did not get a first down until the last two minutes of the second quarter. By the time the second half of the game rolled around, Jenks was on a fast pace to playing in the championship. Barely into the third, the Trojans blocked a punt and forced a safety on Owasso. Owasso later attempted to comeback, scoring a touchdown on third and seven with four minutes left in the quarter.

Jenks later dominated the fourth quarter, finishing the final play with a touchdown.

Jenks will now be advancing to championship play. They will take on the winner of Union and Mustang.
