Three Earthquakes Rattle Northern Oklahoma

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported three earthquakes in Oklahoma Saturday.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported three earthquakes in Oklahoma Saturday.

At 3:39 a.m., a 3.8 magnitude quake more than three miles deep shook the area nine miles east of Medford and 27 miles west of Ponca City.

According to the USGS, at 8:36 a.m., a 3.3 magnitude quake more than two miles deep shook the area 12 miles south of Medford and 16 miles north, northeast of Enid.

At 12:31 p.m., a 3.1 magnitude quake more than two miles deep shook the area 14 miles south, southeast of Medford and 18 miles northeast of Enid, the USGS reported.

There are no reports of major injury or damage at this time.

According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
