The holiday shipping season kicked off Sunday in the Tulsa area as the United States Postal Service announced it will deliver packages seven days a week through Christmas Day.

The USPS said this is in response to continued double-digit package volume growth.

"The Postal Service ships more packages to more places than anyone else,” said Oklahoma District Manager Julie Gosdin.

“During the holidays, we're raising the bar with enhanced tracking and Sunday delivery providing excellent service and reliability that only Santa can compete with.”

If you want packages to be delivered by Christmas, the USPS released the following dates to use as mailing and shipping deadlines this year.

  • December 10 – Priority Mail Express International
  • December 15 – Standard Post
  • December 17 – Global Express Guaranteed
  • December 20 – First-Class Mail/Priority Mail (Domestic)
  • December 23 – Priority Mail Express (Domestic)
As the USPS begins its seven-day delivery services, law enforcement is warning residents about mail theft.
