Some residents at a northwest Oklahoma City apartment complex are without a home after a fire broke out, damaging several apartment units, Sunday evening.
Firefighters were called out to battle the blaze at the Heritage Park apartment complex, located at 1912 Heritage Park Dr., just before 5 p.m.
According to investigators, the fire started from a fireplace in one of the apartment units and spread quickly into the attic and to adjacent apartments.
It took fire crews approximately 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze. All of the tenants in the damaged building will be displaced for at least one night. In all, 16 units were damaged. Eight of the units have fire damage. The other eight have smoke damage.
A preliminary damage estimate has not been released at this time. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
