Motorcycle Clubs Bring Christmas Cheer To Tulsa Children's Shelter

TULSA, Oklahoma -

Several motorcycle clubs rolled into a children's shelter on Sunday to spread the Christmas spirit by delivering toys.

"It's a lot of brotherhood and a lot of togetherness, a lot of love," biker King Spades of Kings N Queens in Kellyville said. “We get an awful lot of joy out of it -- to bring joy and smiles to those children who normally don't get this."

These motorcycle clubs are gearing up for a Toy Run.

"Father God, thank you for this day, God,” Spades prayed. “Man, thank you so much for everybody that showed up, Man, father, there is no color when it comes to stuff like this. Thank you for the gifts that were donated... thank you that we get to take them.”

All the riders want to do is spread a little Christmas cheer to children staying at the Laura Dester emergency shelter.

“There are different chapters here, different clubs,” Jose Gomez of the Tulsa Priesthood Metro Chapter said. “It's not about the club, it's not about the chapter, it's not about what patch you wear it's about doing this for the kids.”

Toy runs like these are one way the community can bring hope and love back to these children during Christmas.

Club members know Jose Gomez as "Torch".

He's blunt about the time he's served in prison.

"I did 15 years in prison... I'm out because of the grace of God," he said.

All Gomez wants to do is give back.

"I remember what it was like being in a shelter, so I relate to what the kids might feel," he said.

But the prison sentences fulfilled or the rough around the edges appearances of these bikers don't mean their hearts

"Some of our guys look actually mean, but we are all big-hearted people," Spades said.

The clubs said they hope the toy run continues grow for Christmas next year.
