Dozens of people in Muskogee synced their voices to serenade the woman whose home was broken into twice in November.

Robbers stole from Joy Vogel, then, left her battered and bruised; but the carolers set out to turn her holiday season around for the better.

Seventy-five perfect strangers came together on Joy's front lawn to sing Christmas carols to the woman who's had a very tough year.

"They said it's going to be a few people on the porch and I think they misjudged how many people were going to come," Joy said with a laugh.

Cliff Casteel with Okie Country arranged the event for Joy.

"This is the greatest gift you could give somebody. To let them know that they're accepted, and they're loved and we're here for them," he said.

It didn't take much to get the people of Muskogee on board.

"This is all about supporting our communities and being together as one, whether it's times of good or bad times like these that got us here," said Muskogee resident, Chris Kelley.

Lieutenant Michael Johnson with the Muskogee Police said, "It makes all of us think of our grandparents, or our grandmother or someone that's close to us that's that age, so it makes us really feel for her."

If anyone has had a rough year, it's Joy.

Her home was broken into, twice, and the robbers stole her purse with her hearing aid inside and broke her glasses.

He neighbors were out to make sure they didn't steal her spirit.

"We know we've caught the folks that did it, and now we're out to bring Joy to Joy Vogel," Muskogee resident, Andrea Chancellor said.

Joy said, "My life has had rocky bumps and [it's] just another one."

For the first time in 83 years, Joy has Christmas carolers; she even got her hair done for the big event.

"Peace on Earth, and may we enjoy each other's company, and Merry Christmas," she said.

The night ended with hugs for Joy and everyone wishing her a Merry Christmas.
