They're 4,500 miles from home. But for a group of cancer patients and their families from England, that distance Thursday night might not have seemed so far.

Oklahoma City's Procure Proton Therapy Center is one of only 14 places in the U.S. that offers a special kind of radiation treatment. It kills bad cancer cells, but doesn't kill the good stuff too.

More than 100 patients from England are treated at Procure in Oklahoma City each year.

Christmas night, Procure hosted eight child cancer patients and their families who are in from the U.K. for a big Christmas dinner.

Michelle Lee's 7-year-old daughter Frankie-Rose is battling valiantly cancer tumors in her brain and her spinal cord.

“It's been very very warm, not just in the temperature but in the way the people are. Everybody is extremely kind, very very friendly. They go out of their way to help us feel welcomed,” she said. “We're a long way from home. We're very lonely out here.”
