Tulsa firefighters had to battle freezing temperatures as well as flames when a home caught fire early Thursday.
The fire department got the call just at 1:37 a.m. to a home in the 7700 block of East 21st Street.
Tulsa Fire Department District Chief Glen Brigan says the family got out of the home alright but a dog wasn't as fortunate.
Brigan says the homeowner awoke to smoke coming from the garage. He got his family out of the home.
Firefighters said the fire was largely contained to the garage and attic area over the garage. Two vehicles parked in the garage were heavily damaged.
Because of the cold temps, Brigan says they asked for a Tulsa Public School bus to come to the scene. Firefighters rotated in and out of the bus to keep warm as they fought the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
