Biggest Tournament In Youth Wrestling: 2015 Flo Tulsa Nationals
TULSA, Oklahoma - The World of Wrestling will be hosting the 60th annual Flo Tulsa Nationals at the Expo Square Pavilion, January 15-17. The event will showcase youth wrestling, representing 40 states. Approximately 2,600 kids are registered in the nationals, (ages 4-16), and over 7,000 matches will be held.
Kids are coming from all over to compete in what has been known as the toughest youth wrestling competition in the nation. “It gives them a chance to compete against the best kids in the world,” said tournament director Jack Roller.
The nationals will be regulated in a collegiate format with modified national federation high school rules. The matchups will be double-elimination, and all referee decisions are final. Any protest to a contest will result in a $40.00 fee. If a protest is made, it must be done before the final match of the wrestler.
The competition already ensures a crowd of 11,000-12,000 fans, which means the event will bring in about $12 million. “The economic impact is huge,” stated Roller.
The matches will feature special guests, including wrestling legend Danny Hodge, who will be presenting awards to winning contestants. Other special guests include a wide variety of Olympic gold medal winners and other wrestling champions.
