Good morning! We're starting temperatures this morning in the mid to upper 20s in some of the valley locations while others will be in the lower 30s.Light wind, clear sky, and dry air have combined to give us the chilly readings this morning. This dry air will warm up effectually today with afternoon highs moving into the lower 60s.We haven't experienced 60 degree weather since Dec. 26th in Tulsa, but it appears we should be above 60 this weekend in a few spots.
This pattern of nice weather should remain for the next several days despite another cold front nearing the area late Saturday afternoon and evening. This front will bring some clouds to the northeastern OK region by later Saturday, and the EURO has supported a small chance of light snow showers or sprinkles late Saturday evening while other data keep the preicp out of the area. The dry air mass at the surface and the mid-levels should preclude any precip from forming and we have elected to keep this pop off the map.
The temps will slide down late Saturday afternoon along with north winds, and if you're outside during this period, you may notice the temp drop later in the evening. But by Sunday mid-morning, the surface winds have shifted back out of the southwest and additional mild air seems likely for Sunday and Monday with afternoon highs back into the lower 60s Sunday and into the mid-60s Monday.
Just as quickly as we're getting used to the mild air, the pattern will change again. This will bring another cold front into the area Monday night into Tuesday with a minor but noticeable cool down.Readings Tuesday will start into the 30s and finish into the mid-50s with northeast winds, but no precipitation is expected.
Wednesday into Thursday both EURO and GFS support the potential for more cold air invading the nation, and possibly into the state of Oklahoma, even though some noticeable differences exist in the data. Both sets ( the GFS and EURO) seem to now keep the majority of this late week system to the south of our main area of interest.Yesterday the EURO was much more northward bringing some very cold and active weather into the region.I'll refrain from going into the possible scenarios since we're many days out, but needless to post, we'll be watching this time period closely.Eventually a system will be nearing the area but we'll have time to watch and make updates as the confidence in any one solution increases or decreases. At this point, prepare for some colder air late next week, but with only a low chance of precipitation at this point.
As always, thanks for reading the Friday Morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
