BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -

A minor crashed ended the pursuit of a stolen SUV in Broken Arrow late Friday night.

According to reports, an officer noticed an SUV in the 1300 block of North Elm Place with a broken driver's side rear window covered with tape; something the officer said is common with stolen vehicles.

The officer said he called in the tag and confirmed the SUV was reported stolen from Catoosa.

The report says the officer attempted to pull over the SUV on the ramp of westbound Highway 51 near Elm but said the driver, later identified as 39-year-old Dearl McCullar, continued.

Once on the highway, the officer said the SUV sped up, passed a vehicle on the shoulder and continued until exiting on Olive almost hitting another vehicle.

According to the report the McCullar then turned north onto Olive and hit a vehicle.

The officer said after the crash McCullar got out of the SUV, ran to a QuikTrip parking lot and fell.

The report says the officer chased after McCullar who had turned around from the parking lot and was running back toward Olive where he fell again.

The officer said McCullar was taken into custody with a minor struggle.

Officer said they searched the SUV and found a black zip folder with drug paraphernalia - syringes, spoons and small pieces of cotton.

According to the report there were three people in the car hit by the SUV. One received an injury to the head and needed medical treatment. The report says McCullar was also taken to the hospital for a small cut to the forehead.

Jail records show he is being held on complaints of possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding after an accident, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Records show McCullar is being held on a $9,750 bond.
