Alan Crone's Blog: Warmer Weather On The Way For Eastern Oklahoma

Posted: Updated:
We're still tracking an upper level system across the southern plains that may bring some light flurries to western Arkansas early this morning.   Otherwise the majority of the state, including the northeastern sections (Tulsa) will be entering an improving stretch of weather for the foreseeable future.   There will be a few upper level waves and surface features impacting the region, for the next few days, but the overall impact on sensible weather conditions will remain low.

Temps this morning are in the upper 20s and lower 30s across the eastern third of the state with partly cloudy conditions.   As the long wave trough exits the region early this morning, clouds will eventually clear again across the majority of the state with northwest winds around 10 mph.  Daytime highs may stay in the upper 40s to lower 50s.  Tonight looks great.  Enjoy the evening.

The weekend begins a warming trend that should last for a few days next week.   Saturday morning will see temps in the upper 20s and lower 30s with sunshine and afternoon highs in the mid to upper 50s.   Sunday afternoon temps should move into the mid or upper 60s, but a gusty west or northwest wind by midday to afternoon combined with dormant vegetation and lower humidity will lead to enhanced fire danger conditions.

An upper level system may drop through the northwest flow aloft over the Missouri Valley early next week, but this system will have little impact due to a down-sloping wind regime across the state.   Our air-mass will continue to compress and warm with afternoon highs basically in the 60s, with a few lower 70s possible across western sections of the state.    A cold front around Thursday will bring some cooler air to the state.   By the end of next week, the pattern will change and allow another rain making trough to approach the region.   The early outlook suggests the thermal profile will not support wintry precipitation.  But as always, we're many days away, and things can and do change.

Thanks for reading the abbreviated version of the Friday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
